Utah in December

On Thursday, December 3, Carla and I flew Southwest Airlines to Salt Lake City, rented a car there, and stayed until the following Monday at the La Quinta Inn on 800 North in Orem. Thursday, we ate at the Provo Tucanos.

Along with Carla attending a wedding shower for Cleo, we also wanted to see the Norman Rockwell exhibit at the Brigham Young University Museum of Art. So we did that on Friday.

Norman Rockwell’s multitudinous Saturday Evening Post covers were displayed on the walls leading to the exhibit

When I photographed this incident, a student docent politely informed me that picture taking was not permitted inside the exhibit.

At BYU; not much snow yet.

Friday night, we enjoyed going out to eat with John and Jenny at Pizzeria 712 in Orem.

Saturday, Carla went to Cleo’s shower with Jenny, Ruby, and Elizabeth. I got to hang out at John’s, play chess with the boys and listen to their music, and go with John for parts to do a kitchen plumbing repair. For dinner, John and I brought everybody hamburgers from Five Guys. I like to crack open the shells and eat the peanuts there while an order is being prepared. Somehow, I like peanuts even better when you have to remove their shells. Five Guys warns you against going in if you have a peanut allergy.

Sunday, we walked the short distance to John’s ward.

Hooray! The tree is ready for Christmas.

John showed me how to download Heroes of Might and Magic 3 from gog.com, so I did that. We enjoyed our visit and, on Monday, returned our rental car and flew home.
