He died a few weeks ago at age 79, and his family held a memorial service for him today Saturday at the Neighborhood Church in Pasadena.  Bruce had held several administrative posts in the office at different times, including Head Deputy over the Preliminary Hearings Division in the 1970s and the Complaints Division in the 1980s.  I enjoyed the privilege of working for him in those divisions.<\/p>\n<p>A bagpiper played before and after the service today on the church grounds.  District Attorney Steve Cooley, Chief Deputy Curt Livesay, former District John Van de Kamp and many other office old-timers attended.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the day, at a DA training seminar, the office said farewell to Curt Livesay, who had come out of retirement to serve as the Chief Deputy for Steve Cooley.
