To avoid crossing a hotel picket line, California Appellate Defense Counsel changed the location of its annual conference and seminar, held this year on March 13 and 14, from Los Angeles to the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Redondo Beach. That gave Carla and I a chance to enjoy a weekend with this view:
I attended classes for my Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) Friday and Saturday. This included a question-and-answer session with California Supreme Court Justice Goodwin Liu, who was pleasant and thoughtful. Carla and I enjoyed dining Friday evening with Uncle Ron at the Bluewater Grill—good food and great company. While walking the short distance there, we chanced upon Tammy Milonas, a former member of our ward; she said she’s living with her mother on a boat berthed there.
Saturday evening, Carla and I walked in the area, with this sunset:
At the wharf we passed this statue honoring diving enthusiasts Bill and Bob Meistrell, who invented the wet suit there in 1953:
At the end of our walk, we ate at the nearby Ruby’s Diner; here’s the lovely Ruby:
Heading home the next morning, we stopped to enjoy sacrament meeting at the Redondo Beach Ward.
